Jefferson, Texas, was founded around 1841 on land once belonging to the Caddo tribe. Once boasting a population of 30,000–back when the Red River Raft log jam raised water levels in Caddo Lake and the surrounding Big Cyprus Bayou, thus allowing for a brisk river trade–Jefferson’s current population is only around 1875. This is in thanks to the destruction of the Red River Raft in 1873 (hurrah, nitroglycerine!), which lowered water levels and made riverboat traffic to Jefferson infeasible.
In The Grove episodes of Ghost Hunt TV, the team stays at the 3 Sisters Cottages Bed ‘n Breakfast in the southern part of the city, not far from the filming location at The Grove house.

They also make a stop in town at the Jefferson Jimplecute, the local newspaper office.

And have a late supper with Ewalt Grummin at Auntie Skinner’s Riverboat Club.
